Shelby Sellers put West Point up 1-0 in the opening frame following a bases-loaded hit by pitch.

Carlie Wilkins made it 3-0 in the second inning with a two-run single after stranding the bases loaded with a pair of strikeouts in the top half of the frame.

Cullman’s Alex Stansell put her team on the board in the third inning with an RBI single.

After that, however, it was all West Point.

The Lady Warriors responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third — Gracie Abbott drew a bases-loaded walk and Lexi Shadix scored on an error — to push the lead to 5-1.

RBI singles by Bethany Minck and Wilkins made it 7-1 in the fifth inning before Abbott scored on a passed ball.

Sydney Sellers followed with a two-run single and scored the winning run on an error shortly afterward.

Wilkins (three RBIs), Sydney Sellers (two RBIs), Molly Pendley and Minck each provided two hits.

Abbott (RBI), Shelby Sellers (RBI), Makayla Brown and Shadix tallied one hit apiece.

Wilkins scattered four hits and eight strikeouts in five solid innings of work.

“We’re not playing really well right now,” coach Eric Pendley said. “A lot of new players in new positions with injuries. Carlie struggled a bit in the cold temperatures, but she’s a competitor. We finally found a way to put up some runs on the board late.”

Stansell (RBI), McKenna Kline, Ashlen Heatherly and Carlie Burnham had the hits for the Lady Bearcats.
