PREP VOLLEYBALL: West Point claims title at Priceville Invitational, improves to 23-2

West Point’s volleyball team won the Priceville Invitational on Saturday following a perfect 6-0 showing.

The Lady Warriors, who improved to 23-2 this season, defeated New Hope (25-23, 25-21), Athens Bible (25-17, 25-23), Decatur Heritage (25-11, 25-18) and Lee-Huntsville (25-4, 25-14) in pool play. 

West Point then downed Athens Bible (25-15, 23-25, 15-5) in the semifinals before moving past Lindsay Lane (25-20, 22-25, 15-13) in the championship match.

Athens Bible (No. 1) and Lindsay Lane (No. 4) are ranked in Class 1A, while Decatur Heritage (No. 7) is ranked in Class 2A.

Lexi Shadix (48 kills, 11 blocks, nine digs and five aces), Mackenzie Carter (24 kills, 15 digs, two assists, two blocks and two aces), Josie Huckaby (23 kills and five blocks), Molly Pendley (19 kills, 14 digs and six aces), Selena Clark (86 assists, 10 aces and eight digs), Natalie Pearce (seven assists, three blocks and three kills), Gracie Thompson (eight aces and two digs), and Sarah Chapman (seven digs and five aces) all contributed throughout the tournament for the Lady Warriors.

West Point’s junior varsity team went 5-0 this weekend to win the Elkmont Tournament. Meanwhile, Fairview’s junior varsity squad snagged the Silver Bracket title at the Cullman Tournament.
