PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: West Point’s boys hold off Jasper; Cullman, Fairview also earn wins

West Point’s varsity boys held off a late charge from Jasper on Monday night to claim a 55-53 home win against the Vikings and improve to 3-3 this season.

Kolton Sapp paced the Warriors with 26 points. Aubry Cleghorn (10) and Kobe Bowers (seven) also contributed offensively.

% Cullman 66, Haleyville 51: Jayden Sullins (14), Tucker Gambrill (13), Cooper Beck (11) and JD Parrish (10) all reached double figures for the Bearcats in Monday’s road victory.

Noah Bussman tossed in nine points for Cullman (6-1) as well.

% Fairview 55, Holly Pond 38: The Aggies avenged last week’s loss to the Broncos with a solid road showing on Monday night.

Sawyer Daniel led Fairview (2-4) with 17 points, while Dow Nichols was right behind with 16.

Holly Pond (1-3), meanwhile, received top contributions from Kyler Chaney (16) and Tyler Boatright (13).


Varsity Girls

% West Point 65, Jasper 27: The Lady Warriors moved to 5-1 this season following a decisive home triumph on Monday night.

Mackenzie Carter notched a team-high 17 points for West Point, while Miriam Oldacre crafted 12 to round out the double-digit scorers.

Micah Oldacre and Lexi Shadix were next in line with eight points apiece.

% Cullman 67, Haleyville 15: The Lady Bearcats stayed perfect on Monday night, breezing to a road victory.

Olivia Neal spearheaded a balanced scoring effort for Cullman (7-0) with 12 points.

Anna Katherine Eastman (10), Anna Grace Murphy (nine), Alexandria Barker (nine), Sadie Young (eight) and Hannah Hoffman (seven) were also key contributors.

% Fairview 50, Holly Pond 36: Molly McKelvy scored a game-high 18 points to guide the Lady Aggies to a road win over the Lady Broncos on Monday night.

Fairview (4-2) received an 11-point showing from Payton Golden as well.

Holly Pond (1-2) was paced by Maddie Heatherly and Elizabeth Miller, both of whom notched 13 points in the loss.
