PREP VOLLEYBALL: West Point earns wins over Good Hope, Vinemont in county tri-match

GOOD HOPE — West Point’s volleyball team was in midseason form on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Warriors kicked off the 2018 campaign with wins against Vinemont (25-5, 25-18) and Good Hope (25-20, 25-21) at D.E. Ryan Gymnasium.

West Point delivered a perfect showing against the Lady Raiders behind excellent performances from Lexi Shadix (five kills, five blocks, two digs and one ace), Mackenzie Carter (five digs and four blocks), Josie Huckaby (four kills, three blocks and one dig) and Molly Pendley (four kills and two blocks).
Selena Clark (20 assists and two digs), Gracie Thompson (three aces and two digs), Sarah Chapman (five digs) and Natalie Pearce (one block) also contributed for the Maroon and White.
Stats from the Vinemont match were unavailable.
“Definitely happy (to be 2-0),” coach Regina Jones said. “I thought for the most part we got the ball to our hitters and hit the ball well. It can always be better. We’ve got to work on our passing, and we gave a few away on serving errors. We want to try to clean up our game a little bit.”
The Lady Raiders salvaged a split following a 25-12, 21-25, 15-7 victory over the Lady Eagles.
Abi Orton (12 kills and two aces), Alee Jackson (seven kills and five aces), Jesse Kent (seven kills and two blocks), Savanna Burney (six kills), Sidnie English (five kills, one ace and one block), Madalyn Williams (four kills and one block), Chrissi Smith (26 assists and one block), Skylar Tucker (four kills), Riley Smith (one ace) and Abby Neighbors (one ace) aided Good Hope during its two matches.
