- Good Hope Addison
Good Hope secured its second straight shutout on Friday night, blanking Addison 27-0.
Landon Bagwell put the Raiders on the board in the first quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run.
That score remained until late in the opening half when Carter Rutherford made a leaping catch off a long pass from Tyler Cone, shook a pair of Addison defenders and sped for an 87-yard touchdown to give Good Hope a 14-0 halftime advantage.
The home team continued its terrific work in the third quarter, as Brayden Cofer fell on a fumble in the end zone for a defensive score before Mason Drake followed shortly afterward with a 68-yard scoring dash to put the game out of reach.
The Raiders have allowed just 16 points through five contests this season — tops in Class 4A — and added yet another goose egg to their résumé following last week’s 21-0 win over Cordova.
“I thought we opened the game with a really nice drive,” Good Hope coach Alan Scott said. “Defense continues to play solid as well. We’ve got to eliminate some turnovers near the goal line, but the guys are hustling. Just proud of the effort tonight. The coaches take a lot of pride in their positions — as do the players. We are just super thankful for what the Lord has given us so far this season.”
Good Hope (5-0) returns to action next week with a road clash at Curry. Addison, meanwhile, will take a 3-3 record to Waterloo.
