PREP SOCCER: West Point’s girls compete at Capital of Dreams Classic; Cullman’s girls finish 3rd at Southern Shootout

West Point’s varsity girls soccer team competed at the Capital of Dreams Classic in Montgomery over the weekend.

The Lady Warriors compiled a 1-1-1 record to notch a three-way tie for first place in their group.

West Point defeated Brewbaker Tech 2-0, tied with Wetumpka 2-2 and lost to Stanhope Elmore 5-2.

Grace Lee scored four goals, while Mallory Campbell and Faith Lee each provided one.


Southern Shootout

Cullman’s varsity girls placed third in their bracket at the Southern Shootout over the weekend.

The Lady Bearcats (4-1) defeated Daphne (3-0), Opelika (4-1) and Foley (3-1) and lost to Sparkman (1-0).

Abby Branham (eight goals), Jeta Falcon (four assists), Mimi Lunsford (one goal and one assist), Addie Echols (one goal and one assist), Ashlei Bryant (one assist) and Emily Moss (one assists) were the top contributors for Cullman.

Gracie Barksdale spearheaded a defense that allowed just three goals.

Cullman’s junior varsity girls went 2-0-1 to win their bracket.
