PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Cullman’s boys place 2nd at Scottsboro Invitational

Cullman’s boys cross country team finished second in the large-school division (Class 5A-7A) at Saturday’s Scottsboro Invitational.
The Bearcats, who were paced by top-25 outings from Eli Wilhite (2nd), Jackson Tucker (8th), Tucker Adkison (11th), Will Thompson (20th) and Edgar Medina (23rd) came up three points shy of first-place Mountain Brook in the 21-team field.

Andrew Sweeney helped St. Bernard to fourth overall in the small-school division (21 teams) following a superb performance (4th), while teammates Caleb Guthery (16th), Joey McCarthy (18th), Joseph Arriaga (41st) and Francis Mami (53rd) also contributed.
Cold Springs, which placed sixth overall, was spearheaded by Jonathan Collett (11th), Trentan Williams (27th), Cole Akridge (28th), C.J. Lang (37th) and Aaron Spurger (47th).
Leahrose Mami delivered a fourth-place showing individually to help St. Bernard’s girls notch fourth in the small-school division out of 14 squads.
Lizbeth Medina (19th), Eva Barck (32nd), Claire Sanders (35th) and Anna Beth Guthery (56th) rounded out the top performances for the Lady Saints.
Cullman’s girls, meanwhile, were ninth out of 19 teams in the large-school division.
The Black and Gold’s speediest runners were Della Kelly (43rd), Mattie Green (51st), Jennifer Aviles (61st), Tess Heaton (75th) and Alexandra Holt (79th).
