Week 4 proved quite productive for teams in The Times’ coverage area.

Those programs secured an 8-1 record — each of those wins coming against region competition — and no doubt hope to continue those good vibes through Friday night’s matchups.

Before we get to it, though, remember to please visit www.cullmantimes.com, The Cullman Times Facebook or my Twitter account (@winfreyjake) for prep football coverage.

Class 1A, Region 7

Hackleburg (3-0, 2-0) at Addison (3-1, 2-0)

If these teams deliver an encore of last year’s meeting, then this is the place to be on Friday night.

The Panthers used a late score to slip past the Bulldogs 32-28 in what ultimately served as the de facto, region title-deciding game.

Addison no doubt has revenge on the mind, but this is likely the toughest game left on its schedule.

My Pick: Hackleburg

Non-Region Game

Winston County (4-0) at Cold Springs (3-1, 1-1)

The Eagles are off to their best start since the 2020 season.

Winston County, however, has been just as impressive — outscoring its foes 185-27 so far this fall.

I think both these teams are postseason bound, but the Yellow Jackets have the edge in this game.

My Pick: Winston County

Class 6A, Region 7

Cullman (2-2, 1-1) at Muscle Shoals (3-1, 2-0)

What a win for coach Danny Stiff and the Bearcats last week.

But the time for celebration has long passed — with a trip to face the Trojans on deck Friday night.

Muscle Shoals has been highly successful under longtime coach Scott Basden, netting 15 straight playoff berths and six region titles since 2009.

The Trojans have also won 10 of the past 11 matchups with Cullman.

My Pick: Muscle Shoals

Class 5A, Region 7

Fairview (3-0, 2-0) at Lawrence County (3-1, 1-1)

Here’s a quick prediction.

Whichever team comes out on top is going to host a first-round playoff game.

The Aggies held off the Red Devils 14-7 a season ago and I could see another close one here.

However, I give a slight edge to the road team.

My Pick: Fairview

Class 4A, Region 5

Good Hope (3-0, 2-0) at Cordova (1-3, 1-1)

The Raiders have gotten downright defensive so far this season.

Good Hope is allowing just 5.3 points per game through three matchups — good for second in 4A.

They say defense travels.

My Pick: Good Hope

Class 3A, Region 5

Oakman (2-1, 1-0) at Hanceville (1-3, 1-1)

The Bulldogs got off the schneid last week as coach Levi Estes grabbed his first career victory.

They now return home to face Oakman for the first time since 2015.

The Wildcats are coming off a shutout win against Phil Campbell and have reached the postseason 13 straight years.

Can Hanceville make it two in a row?

My Pick: Oakman

Class 3A, Region 8

Holly Pond (2-2, 1-1) at Geraldine (2-1, 1-1)

The Broncos have already matched last season’s win total through four games under first-year coach Will McDaniel.

Up next is a road trip to play the Bulldogs, a state semifinalist just a season ago.

Geraldine lost to Sylvania — which beat Holly Pond in Week 3 — last Friday night.

Transitive property pick.

My Pick: Geraldine

Class 3A, Region 5

Carbon Hill (1-2, 0-1) at Vinemont (3-1, 1-1)

With a win Friday night, the Eagles would secure their first 4-1 start since 2012.

Given Vinemont’s good play and history in this series — 9-1 all-time against Carbon Hill — I’m taking this one to the bank.

My Pick: Vinemont

Season Record: 23-7
