CULLMAN COUNTY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT (JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS): Red-hot West Point takes down Hanceville 61-24

HANCEVILLE — West Point’s junior varsity boys are headed to the championship game.

The No. 3 Warriors delivered a marvelous offensive performance to pick up a 61-24 win against seventh-seeded Hanceville at the Cullman County Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.

West Point (9-17) advances to play No. 5 Vinemont on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Coach Scott Brown’s team took control early in the contest behind exceptional shooting.

Logan Selby (19) and Mason Walls (12) claimed all of their points in the first half as the Warriors drained nine 3-pointers during the first two quarters to secure a 44-14 lead at intermission.

Elvis Arroyo (nine) and Brannon Bright (six) also contributed.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Izayah Glenon, who tallied nine points.

Ethan Roberts added five.

% Coach Speak: “We did come out with some intensity, which I think helped our offensive production a little bit. I felt like I had multiple guys who did a lot of good things for us. That’s what a team’s about … you want everybody contributing. We’re pleased with this one, and we’ll start getting ready for Saturday.
