PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: West Point takes down Cullman 79-76

WEST POINT — Kolton Sapp netted a game-high 33 points and the Warriors downed Cullman 79-76 on Friday to advance to the championship of the West Point Christmas Tournament.
Rylan Jones added 17 points and 13 rebounds for West Point, which improved to 8-9 this season.

Will Cochran (11) and Tyler White (eight) also came through for coach Randy Jones’ squad on offense.
Tucker Gambrill racked up a team-high 19 points for the Bearcats, who dropped to 12-4 on the season.
Jayden Sullins (18) and Noah Bussman (12) provided double-digit efforts as well.
The Warriors will take on the winner of Good Hope/Hayden on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.
That game wasn’t completed by deadline.
Cullman, meanwhile, will play the loser at 11:30 a.m.

% Priceville 54, Cold Springs 47: The Eagles fell short in Friday’s game against the Bulldogs.
Cold Springs (10-7) led 37-21 at halftime but was outscored 33-10 in the second half.
Adam Hill crafted 16 points for the Eagles, while Logan Rice (nine), Landyn Freeman (eight) and Seth Williams (seven) also provided buckets.
Cold Springs will conclude tournament play on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Danville.
% Cullman 75, Cold Springs 62: The Bearcats took down the Eagles on Thursday night.
Mason Herron (14), Cooper Beck (11) and Jayden Sullins (10) were the top contributors for Cullman.
J.D. Parrish (nine) and Tucker Gambrill (eight) were next in line offensively.
Cold Springs, meanwhile, was paced by Landyn Freeman and Brody Peppers, both of whom scored 14 points.
Mason Harris (10) also secured a double-digit showing.
Decatur Orthopaedic Clinic Classic
% Cullman 43, Athens 41: Anna Katherine Eastman drained two free throws with 3.1 seconds left in Friday’s game to propel the 6A No. 9 Lady Bearcats to the victory.
Cullman (16-4) was paced by Eastman’s 21 points. Hannah Hoffman added 13.
% R.A. Hubbard 48, Fairview 40: The Lady Aggies couldn’t overcome a slow start in Friday’s loss.
Fairview (9-8) garnered a team-high eight points from Maddie Yeager.
Daisy Manasco and Molly McKelvy added six apiece as well for the Lady Aggies, who trailed 31-19 at halftime.
Etowah Holiday Tournament
% Sand Rock 57, West Point 46: The Lady Warriors came up short against the 2A No. 7 Lady Wildcats on Friday to fall to 14-3 this season.
Mackenzie Carter and Miriam Oldacre notched 12 points apiece for West Point, while Lexi Shadix scored 11.
Micah Oldacre added eight.
Glencoe Christmas Tournament
% Holly Pond 70, Cedar Bluff 36: Kyler Chaney, Devyn Tankersley, Tyler Boatright and Brody Rowell secured 11 points apiece to lift the Broncos to a win on Friday.
Cooper Jones (nine) and Jordan Allbright (eight) also contributed for Holly Pond (9-8).
The Broncos will wrap up tournament play on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. against Ohatchee.
% Cedar Bluff 52, Holly Pond 37: The Lady Tigers upended the Lady Broncos on Friday.
Holly Pond (6-10) was led by Tess Duke, who had 10 points. Maddie Heatherly notched nine.
The Lady Broncos will wrap up tournament play on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against Ohatchee.
Winfield Christmas Tournament
% Cold Springs 62, Holy Spirit 5: The 2A No. 3 Lady Eagles came away with an easy win on Friday.
Toni West (15), Lina Lieckfeld (13) and Camryn Crider (11) all reached double figures for Cold Springs (14-5).
