PREP BASKETBALL: Lady Warriors take down Fairview 60-29, clinch No. 1 seed in county tournament; Good Hope’s boys defeat No. 4 West Morgan 68-65

West Point’s varsity girls raced out to a big lead early en route to a 60-29 home win over Fairview on Tuesday.
With the victory, the Lady Warriors (12-2) clinched the No. 1 seed in next month’s Cullman County Tournament.

“We played really good defense and rebounded well,” coach John Welborn said.
West Point held a 21-4 advantage against the Lady Aggies (8-5) after the first quarter.
Miriam Oldacre led the Lady Warriors with 21 points, while Mackenzie Carter (10) and Molly Pendley (nine) also provided strong efforts. Lexi Shadix (five), Sheridan Bowers (five), Olivia Ball (four), Maci Hamby (three), Sydney Smith (two) and Micah Oldacre (one) rounded out the offensive production.
Molly McKelvy crafted a team-high nine points for Fairview.
Daisy Manasco was next in line with six, while Payton Golden, Jacy Gorham and Morgan Lindsey all scored four. Isabella McGukin wrapped up the scoring with two.
% West End 35, Vinemont 29: The Lady Eagles came up a little short in Tuesday’s road loss.

Bailey Preiss and Madysen Hacker totaled seven points apiece, while Sadie Stanley came up with six.
% Cold Springs 69, Holly Pond 27: The Lady Eagles earned a road win against the Lady Broncos on Monday.
Camryn Crider netted 25 points for Cold Springs, while Elizabeth Hill claimed 13. Toni West and Kinley Campbell added seven apiece as well.
The Class 2A No. 3 Lady Eagles improved to 10-4 with the triumph.
Holly Pond (6-6) was led by Maddi Ham, who scored nine points. Tate Duke tossed in six.
% Hartselle 58, West Point 50: The Lady Warriors dropped a tough one away from home on Monday.
Miriam Oldacre racked up 17 points for West Point in the loss. Lexi Shadix (11) and Molly Pendley (seven) were next in line offensively against the 6A No. 2 Lady Tigers.

% Good Hope 68, West Morgan 65: The Raiders improved to 8-2 this season following a home victory versus the 4A No. 4 Rebels on Tuesday.
Cole Maddox garnered a team-high 17 points for Good Hope, while Noah Fendley (16), Drew Maddox (11) and Michael Lowe (10) also pitched in double-digit outings.
“It was a back-and-forth game all night,” coach Drew Adams said. “Both teams capitalized on runs. We made a few plays down the stretch to give us a lead, made a few key stops and just gutted it out. It was not a pretty win. For us to not play well, though, and still get the win, I was really proud of the guys.”
% West Point 73, Fairview 40: Kolton Sapp came through with 22 points as the Warriors rolled past the Aggies for a road triumph on Tuesday.
Kobe Bowers scored 15 points for West Point (5-9), and Rylan Jones netted nine.
Fairview (4-9) was paced by Zane Miller’s 10 points. Mason Black added seven.
% Vinemont 58, West End 47: The Eagles soared to a road win on Tuesday.
Katch Johnson (20), Jordan Hall (11), Mitch Ford (eight) and Collin Teichmiller (seven) had the top contributions.
% Hanceville 54, Corner 44: The Bulldogs won the title at the Corner Classic on Tuesday.
Raiden Morgan propelled Hanceville (12-3) to the victory with 11 points, while Zeke McDonald provided nine.
Tyson Bellmon, Romain Pochon and RJ Evans came through with eight apiece.
% Brewer 66, Cullman 56: The Bearcats dropped to 11-3 this season following Tuesday’s road loss.
JD Parrish led Cullman with 17 points. Jayden Sullins and Noah Bussman added eight apiece.
% Holly Pond 64, Cold Springs 56 (OT): Kyler Chaney secured 31 points, Tyler Boatright compiled 16 and the Broncos downed the Eagles in overtime on Monday.
Chaney also hit the game-tying 3-pointer to send the contest into the extra period.
Holly Pond (8-5) has now won seven straight games.
Landyn Freeman scored 26 points for Cold Springs (10-4) in the road loss. Mason Harris tossed in 11.
% Good Hope 55, Danville 46: Cole Maddox garnered a team-high 20 points to lift the Raiders to a road victory on Monday.
Noah Fendley (14) and Drew Maddox (13) also reached double figures for Good Hope.
% Hanceville 67, St. Clair County 54: The Bulldogs kicked off the Corner Classic with a triumph on Monday.
Fred Ellis and Romain Pochon scored 15 points apiece for 3A No. 6 Hanceville, while RJ Evans chipped in 11.
% Hartselle 78, West Point 58: The Warriors fell short in Monday’s road tilt against the 6A No. 10 Tigers.
Rylan Jones (13), Kolton Sapp (11) and Tyler Thompson (10) were the top scorers for West Point.

% Cold Springs 48, Holly Pond 29: Madison Bruer had 22 points to guide the Lady Eagles to a win on Monday.
Emma Chambers and Ella Stephenson contributed nine apiece as well in the road victory.
