PREP CROSS COUNTRY: St. Bernard boys, girls earn top-5 finishes at Randolph Classic

St. Bernard’s cross country programs recorded top-five finishes in the small-school division at the Randolph Classic on Tuesday.

Andrew Sweeney (second), Caleb Guthery (seventh), Joey McCarthy (30th), Joseph Arriaga (61st) and Francis Mami (62nd) all turned in superb performances to help the Saints finish fourth in a 20-team field of talented Class 1A-4A programs.

Hanceville’s Aaron Brown finished 13th as an individual.

In the large-school division, Fairview placed ninth of out 17 squads. The Aggies were paced by Quinton Chambers (12th), Cody Fallin (34th), A.B. Diaz (46th), Keagan Hardin (56th) and Peyton Bailey (68th).

Leahrose Mami captured a runner-up outing for the Lady Saints, who took home third out of 11 teams. Liz Medina (19th), Claire Sanders (29th), Eva Barck (30th) and Anna Beth Guthery (42nd) also contributed.

Fairview’s Alex McDonald tallied 10th for the Lady Aggies, who finished eighth in 5A-7A. Carrington Chambers (45th), Kennedy Chambers (52nd), Emma Gardner (57th) and Alyssa Harper (61st) rounded out their top-five performers.
