- Fairview's Maci Yeager signs a scholarship to attend and play golf at Wallace State Community College. She is joined up front by her mom Amie, sister Abbi and Fairview coach Kurt Knight. Standing from left to right is Wallace State coach Dan York, Fairview assistant Mark McKelvy and dad Chris Yeager.
Maci Yeager has dreamt of playing collegiate golf since the seventh grade.
On Wednesday, the Fairview standout turned those aspirations into reality.

Surrounded by family, friends, teammates and coaches, Yeager put pen to paper inside the high school library, signing a scholarship to attend and compete just down the road at Wallace State Community College.
Yeager is the fourth Purple and Gold golfer to ink with coach Dan York and the Lions in the past three years, including Abbi Yeager (2015), Trey Hanvey (2015) and Dalys Mullican (2016). Abbi Yeager was one of seven golfers who comprised the school’s inaugural signing class for the women’s rapidly rising program. She’s since moved on to Blue Mountain College.
For Maci Yeager, the great opportunity to follow in her sister’s footsteps made her big day all the more sweeter.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” she said. “Abbi played there, and Dalys plays there now, so it’s pretty cool that I’m going to be playing golf at Wallace State. My sister has taught me a lot and helped me become a better golfer. To do what she got to do, it’s awesome. I wanted to play golf in college, so I just started working as hard as I could.”
Yeager will have several chances to showcase her skills during the spring — the Aggies play a packed schedule — and, if all goes to plan, stock her trophy case ahead of graduation.
That’s just dandy with Fairview coach Kurt Knight, whose prep program keeps churning out talented golfer after talented golfer.

“We’re really proud of Maci,” he said. “Everyone’s putting the time in. The players, the coaches, the parents. It’s great for our kids to receive opportunities to play at the college level.”
While Maci posed for numerous pictures with her friends and sister, the talk quickly became about who would claim an 18-hole showdown between the pair of sweet-swinging Lady Aggies.
The answers, to nobody’s surprise, couldn’t have been more different — though both were dripping in friendly sibling rivalry.
“She’s really good, but it’d be close,” Maci said. “I think I could beat her.”
Added Abbi: “Right now, I’d beat her for sure. Hopefully, she’ll work hard this summer and be able to beat me then. But it’s a neat blessing for her. I’m glad we’re getting to share this honor together.”
