The 2011 Brookside Greenway Festival is scheduled for Sept. 10 at the Bensko Ballpark in Brookside. The greenway festival offers archery, horseback riding, ATV safety classes, a fun run with prizes, fishing pole casting, canoe rides and more.

Five Mile Creek, which is at the edge of the festival site, plays a central role in activities for the festival and also for the community year-round.

The town of Brookside has worked closely in recent years with the Five Mile Creek Greenway Partnership through the Cawaco Resource Conservation and Development Council.

One of the most popular booths at the festival belongs to Brookside’s St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, which sells desserts and other foods.
