Congratulations to North Jefferson Middle School wrestlers and coaches Shane Cochran and Amy Akins. They won their first county championship this past weekend at Oak Grove High School. They finished with a total 201.5 points. County champs
were Colt Alvis (77 pound division), Ben Barnett (112 pound), Jacob Howse (127 pound) and Austin Underwood (130 pound). Colt Alvis won best match of the day and Most Valuable Wrestler of the tournament. Wrestlers who placed second were Seth Kennedy (157 pound), Devon McCombs (119 pound), Lane Lucas (87 pound) and Tyler Criss (105 pound). Jamar Cain placed third in 103-pound division and fourth-place finishers were Zach Thomas (97 pound), Josh Crane (127 pound), Wydner Edmond (135 pound), Trevor Barber (147 pound) and Caleb Lyman (103 pound).
•The Morris Youth Association will have 2009 baseball and softball registration for ages 4 through 12 on Jan. 31 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Feb. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the ballpark concession stand and on Feb. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NJMS gym.
• North Jefferson Soccer registration will be held Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 at Kimberly City Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $65. For more information, you can visit the Web site at njsoccerclub.com or call 586-1947.
