Jefcoed officers retain titles

Warrior resident and Jefferson County Board member Ronald Rhodes was renominated for his position as board vice president at the board’s regular meeting on Thursday. Board President Jennifer Parsons also retained her position.

“The titles don’t have any leverage. We’re all equals,” said Rhodes. “A lot of these board members have a lot to do, and we’re happy to help.”

In other business, the board:

• approved contracts with Paula H. Brown and Laura McGuirk, who will provide judging duties for the Mortimer Jordan High School Miss Torch Pageant. Compensation will be provided with the school’s pageant account

• approved change orders for ventilation hoods for Bryan Elementary School, decreasing the contract sum by $2,000,  and unspecified improvements to Corner High School at a cost of $236, 714.
