Tire tracks are seen left in snow Tuesday afternoon at Terri Pines.

Cullman County roads will remain icy through Wednesday morning, but most problems were limited to minor accidents tonight.

Some of the worst spots include Welti Bridge, the curve on County Road 703 near the bridge, U.S. 278 West, County Road 565 off Golf Course Road and Guthrie’s Crossroads in the Crane Hill area, said Phyllis Little, director of Cullman County Emergency Management Agency.

“The point is many or most roads have some ice on them,” Little said. “The places mentioned are almost impassable, but it’s so much that we can only tell people to be careful and don’t be out unless absolutely necessary. The interstate has been in good shape because the state did a good job of preparing, but even there you can’t be certain.”

“It’s safe to assume all roads in the county, including the city of Cullman, have places that are icy, black ice, and can be hazardous.”

Little said the icy conditions will continue into the morning.

The only good news is we should have some sunshine that will help. But temperatures will remain below freezing and some places will remain a problem throughout the day, she added.
