Funeral services for Lou Ellen Wingard, 81, of Auburn, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Leak-Memory Chapel in Montgomery, the Rev. George Mathison officiating, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Leak-Memory Chapel in Montgomery is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wingard passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27. She was born in Gadsden and received her bachelor of science degree in home economics and a master of science degree in elementary education from Auburn University. She taught several years at Fairview Elementary, Holly Pond Elementary, both in Cullman County, at East Elementary in the city of Cullman, one year at Port St. Joe in Florida, four years at Davis Elementary in Montgomery, and several years at Millbrook Junior High and Stanhope Elmore High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. Proctor Sr. and Annie Lou Holmes Proctor; and two sisters, Alice McCoy and Margaret Lightfoot.
Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, C. Fontelle Wingard of Auburn; a brother, Dr. Robert A. Proctor Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Lonita Moss of Guntersville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ben Davis, Ralph Dewey, Morris Kendrick, Jim Hunt, Eric Parten and Sam Wingard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bethany House, 1171 Gatewood Drive, Bldg. 100, Auburn, AL 36830.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
