Former Hayden standout Katie Parr hit four home runs for Wallace State-Hanceville in a softball doubleheader at Southern Union on Thursday.

WADLEY, Ala. — Katie Parr was known as a big hitter when she played softball for Hayden High School (and before that, Tabernacle Christian School).

Now as a freshman at Wallace State-Hanceville, she’s has had one of her best outings ever.

Parr belted three home runs as part of a 4-for-4 day at the plate in the opening game, and then another home run in the nightcap, as the Lions — ranked seventh nationally among junior and community colleges — swept No. 13 Southern Union 19-3 (6 innings) and 4-3 in a doubleheader Thursday afternoon.

Parr’s three bombs were among six hit by the Lions in the first game. Olivia Royals added a grand slam; Sam Riley and Sarah Jordan also parked balls over the fence.

Parr then added a three-run homer in the top of the first in the closing game. She now has seven home runs for the season.
