Marie P. Dombhart

Marie P. Dombhart, 69, of Hampton Cove died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007. A private memorial service was held Thursday at Big Cove Presbyterian Church in Hampton Cove.

The pastor was Rosemary McMahan.

Marie was preceded in death by her son, Martin Dombhart, of Greensboro and her parents Herbert and Kathleen Peinhardt of Cullman.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Bark; and husband, Doug, of Memphis, Tenn.

Marie was a long-time county extension agent in Hale and Jackson counties, and also taught kindergarten and first grade at Southern Academy in Greensboro.

She held a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Auburn University and a master’s degree from Livingston University. She also was an active volunteer in a number of civic and charitable organizations in Scottsboro and Huntsville, particularly those that helped children. In her retirement, she spent many enjoyable hours pursuing her passion for dancing, bridge and gardening. She was a loving mother and friend who will be missed by many.

Hannah Irene Floyd

Funeral services for Hannah Floyd, 19, of Vinemont will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Olivia Bryan officiating, with interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Moss–Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hannah Floyd died Thursday, Aug. 16 in Slater, Colorado.

She was welcomed to Heaven by grandparents, Beagie Mae and Bart Floyd and Velda Hauenstein; uncles, Milan Roth and Eddie Floyd; and her great-grandparents, Willard and Ethel Hauenstein.

Survivors include parents Donnie and Mary Floyd; brothers, Daniel and Dwain Floyd; sister, Gina Floyd; grandparents, Everett and Dorris Hauenstein.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 24 from 5–9 p.m. at Moss–Service Chapel.



Lorene Ponder Holley

Funeral services for Lorene Holley, 85, of Vero Beach, Florida will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Moss-Service Chapel, Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating, interment at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Moss-Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Holley died Aug. 18 in Florida. She was born on June 22, 1922 in Cullman County to George Shelby and Maryann Ponder. Lorene had lived in Vero Beach for the last three years, following the passing of her beloved husband of 63 years, A.C. Holley, in 2003. They lived in Cullman many years before moving to Michigan for most of their married years.

Lorene felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and keeping a loving home, welcome to anyone. She was a member of Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church in Michigan, and attended First Baptist Church of Vero Beach before her lengthy illness began in 2004. Before moving to Michigan, Lorene and A.C. were members of Northside Baptist Church in Cullman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Shelby and Maryann Ponder; brothers, George Loial, Miles Lester and James Gordon Ponder; sisters, Lois Little, Mary Opaline, Irene Ponder and Gladys Walker.

Survivors include, daughter, Carlene (Richard) Howe of Vero Beach, FL; son, Roger (Margaret) Holley of Niceville, FL. Lorene loved her grandchildren, Paul (Danielle) Holley of Niceville, FL, Matthew (Deanna) Holley of New York and Jason Kristin and Crystal Holley. Surviving brother and sisters are Jerry (Jean) Ponder, Hilda (Sonny) Mullins and Jessie Lee (Alton) Burks.

Visitation will be from 5–8 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 at Moss-Service Funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Indian River County (need address)

Calvin Johnson

Funeral services for Calvin Johnson, 83, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Cullman City Cemetery with Rev. Micha Sturm and Aaron Coffey officiating.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson died at his residence Tuesday, Aug. 21. He was born to parents Arthur and Sarah Johnson. He was a charter member of First Church of the Nazarene. He worked for U.S. Steel in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife Arlee Campbell Johnson; four daughters, Margie (Byron) Pruett of Holly Pond, Wynelle (David) Isbell of Sylacauga, Sandra (Dale) Pearson of Cullman and Diane (Harold) Sharpton of Cullman; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Cullman County for their help and assistance during the illness of their loved one.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Cullman County.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22.



Paul Everett Wilson

Funeral services for Paul Wilson, 61, of Arley will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Meek Baptist Church in Arley, Rev. Estel Riddle and Steve Thomas officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.

Collins–Burke Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wilson died Monday, Aug. 20 at his residence in Arley.

Survivors include wife, Becky Wilson; mother Audrey Strickland and husband, Bit; father, Everett Wilson and wife, Betty; daughter, Brookie Harbison and husband, Ronny; son, Vic Wilson and wife, Felecia; son, Josh and wife, Nina; sister, Sharron Steele and wife Terry; grandchildren, Dailey, Emma Paul, Taylor, Eli and Jesse Wilson and Truitt Harbison. Father and mother-in-law Scott and Jewel White; sister-in-law Vicky Deaver and husband Randall; brother-in-law, Rick White. Nephews Jason Steele, Tommy and Andy Deaver and neices, Kristi Niedergeses and Angela Deaver. Three great-neices, two great-nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Wilson was a deacon at Meek Baptist Church, a devoted husband, father, loving son and friend to many.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Meek Baptist Church building fund.

Visitation will be from 5–9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Meek Baptist Church.
