Cullman school board approves personnel moves

Cullman City School Board members approved personnel changes Thursday.

The Cullman City School Board approved several personnel moves Thursday morning in preparation for the beginning of the school year next week.

The new hires approved by the board included:

Dreama Young, Child Nutrition Program Director, beginning Aug. 19.

Valleri Ryan, 6.5 hour CNP worker/floater, beginning Aug. 5.

Vickie Buckelew, 6.5 hour CNP worker at West Elementary School, beginning Aug. 5.

Mary Catherine Marinakis, 6.5 hour CNP worker at West Elementary School, beginning Aug. 5.

Perry Marcus Allbritten, second shift custodian at Cullman High School, beginning July 22.

Barbara Hendrix, special education instructional assistant at West Elementary School, beginning Aug. 5.

Valerie Parris, special education instructional assistant at East Elementary School, beginning Aug. 5.

Sara Williams, special education instructional assistant at East Elementary School, beginning Aug. 5 (pending Work Keys Assessment).

Erika Lee, Parent/Family/Community Engagement Manager at Cullman City Head Start, beginning Aug. 5.

Peyton Little, special education instructional assistant at Cullman High School, beginning Aug. 5.

Mattie Barringer, temporary guidance counselor at West Elementary School, tentatively beginning Aug. 2 through Dec. 20.

In other business, the board:

Gave permission to salvage the following textbooks from West Elementary School: McGraw-Hill Science (21 copies), Scholastic Childrens Dictionary (22 copies), Harcourt Brace Social Studies (20 copies), McGraw-Hill Reading (43 copies) and Harcourt School Publishers Story Town (91 copies).

Gave permission for Cullman City Primary School to adopt “A Fresh Look at Phonics” by Wiley Blevins to supplement their reading instruction.

Approved revision to agreement dated July 7, 2019 with Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. (Amendment No. 1).

Approved the following personnel considerations:

2019-2020 CCS Athletic and Band Supplement Schedules.

2019-2020 CCS Head Coach/Band Director Contracts.

2019-2020 CCS Technology Supplement Schedule.

2019-2020 Cullman High School Non-Athletic Supplement Schedules.

2019-2020 Cullman Middle School, East Elementary, West Elementary, Cullman City Primary School Non-Athletic Supplement Schedule.

Resignation

Cassity Campbell, disabilities assistant at Cullman City Head Start, effective July 17.

Transfer (Non-Certified to Certified)

Theresa Bryant, transfer from CNP worker at East Elementary School to special education teacher at East Elementary and West Elementary, effective Aug. 2.

Leave of absence

Ashley Garrison, first grade teacher at Cullman City Primary School, requesting catastrophic sick leave beginning Jan. 3, 2020 through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Permission to carry over unused vacation days

Lois Lay, requesting permission to carry over unused vacation days due to several payroll projects over the summer.

Permission to miss Institute Day

Amy Sessions, West Elementary School.

Jessie Justice Brooks, Cullman City Head Start.

The Cullman City School Board will hold its first budget hearing for Fiscal Year 2020 on Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room, with its regular board meeting following at 5 p.m.
