Police arrest 5 for meth, pills

A series of investigations over the past few weeks resulted in five arrests for illegal drug activities

The Cullman Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit made the arrests between July 12 and Aug. 1, according to information released by detectives.

Tonya Farr Cunningham, 41, of Cullman, was arrested on five counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance for allegedly selling methamphetamine as well as other charges that include theft of property, third degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, second degree, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Cunningham remained incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center on Friday.

On Aug.1, Crime Suppression Unit members and officers assigned to Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant on County Road 1163. During the search, officers recovered about 20 grams of methamphetamine along with amphetamine pills, Suboxone Sublingual film and drug paraphernalia. Selena Cofer, 39, of Cullman, was charged with unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cofer was booked into the Cullman County Detention Center. 

A search on County Road 260 by officers led to the confiscation of 19 grams of methamphetamine along with Alprazolam pills, Clonazepam pills and drug paraphernalia. Kathy Michelle Woods, 37, of Cullman, was arrested for unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Woods was booked at the Cullman County Detention Center and has since been released. 

Donald Eugene Hill, 33, of Hanceville, was arrested Aug. 1 by Cullman Police officers Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force members and charged with  one count of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance for allegedly selling methamphetamine. Hill was already incarcerated on another drug charge at the time of his arrest and remains in the detention center.

Regina Marie Swain, 46, of Vinemont, was charged one count of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance involving methamphetamine. Swain was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge and remains in the detention center, police reported.
