JONES CHAPEL — Two local residents suffered serious injuries Friday morning during a head-on collision on U.S. 278 West that blocked the highway and caused one vehicle to burst into flames.
Alabama State Troopers identified the victims as drivers Cody Hopper, 27, of Vinemont and Bethany Harper, 45, of Arley. The two-vehicle wreck happened at 8:30 a.m., three miles east of Jones Chapel.
Four fire departments responded to scene with reports of one vehicle on fire and a possible fatality, according to emergency dispatch reports. Medical helicopters were also called to the scene along with firefighters from Jones Chapel, Logan, Sardis and Bethsadia fire departments.
The conditions of Hopper and Harper were not immediately available Friday. The wreck remains under investigation.

JONES CHAPEL — Authorities are on the scene of a violent head-on collision on U.S. 278 West that has blocked the roadway and seriously injured vehicle occupants.
Four fire departments responded to scene in the 8000 block of U.S. 278 shortly after 8:30 a.m. with reports of one vehicle on fire and a possible fatality, according to emergency dispatch reports.
However, Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick confirmed that no one was killed in the wreck.
Medical helicopters were also called to the scene along with firefighters from Jones Chapel, Logan, Sardis and Bethsadia fire departments.
