Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a “smash and grab” robbery at a pharmacy.
Corner Discount Drugs on Corner School Road was broken into between 11:26 and 11:28 Tuesday night, according to the store’s video surveillance system. When deputies responded to the alarm, they found that the glass front door was broken out. No one was inside.
A check of the video showed a white male with a beard and mustache using an aluminum baseball or softball bat to shatter the front door glass. Once inside, he went to where prescription drugs are kept and put several bottles into a red gym bag. He then left the store on foot, as the video did not show a vehicle.
The suspect wore “a distinctive jacket with reflective striping similar to those worn by paramedics,” according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. He also had a dark-colored shirt wrapped around his head.
