The council approved a $2 raise in the issuance fee; it’s an adjustment allowed every five years under the state’s Business License Reform Act of 2006.
“Really, it’s just enough to help offset the increased cost of postage for mailing these [notices],” Mayor Jim Lowery said.
In other business, the council:
- Authorized Lowery to negotiate with the Jefferson County Board of Education for using the Fultondale Elementary School gymnasium for youth basketball leagues
- Granted a business license to Grabow Outdoors LLC, formerly Grabows and Arrows for its new location at 2980 Hawkins Lane, which will hold its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.
- Granted a business license to Henry Foreman for a State Farm insurance office on Old Walker Chapel Road
- Moved the Dec. 23 council meeting up a week to Dec. 16 at 11:30 a.m. to avoid a conflict with the Christmas holiday period.
