A Corner woman has been indicted on murder charges in the death of her ex-husband in January 2011.
Elsie Thomas had originally been released by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, after Matt Allen had been shot and killed with a small shotgun at a house in the 700 block of Shipp Road in Hayden.
Sheriff Loyd Arrington said at the time that he believed Thomas acted in self-defense, as Allen was reported to be brandishing a gun of his own during the incident.
District Attorney Pamela L. Casey said that further investigations since the shooting led to an indictment being sought against Thomas for murder. A grand jury returned that indictment last week.
Thomas is lodged in the Blount County Jail in Oneonta on $60,000 bond. Casey said that an arraignment could take place as early as next week.
