The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, which deluged metro Birmingham and caused flooding and wind damage, forced the closure of Jefferson County schools on Tuesday. Because of that, all volleyball matches and cross country meets scheduled for Tuesday were canceled.

Among the contests affected were an area tri-match involving Gardendale and Carver at Minor, and another area match with Curry visiting Mortimer Jordan. A cross country meet at Pinson Valley, involving several local teams, was scrubbed as well. No make-ups have been set yet.
