Harris Everett Gant, Sr., 88

Harris Everett Gant, Sr., 88, of Fultondale, passed away on December 24, 2010. Harris was a member of Fultondale United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, the Elks Lodge of Fairfield and the Fraternal Order of the Eagle of Forestdale. He also served in the Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie “Mama Ellie” Mills; and his daughter, Charlene Gant.

Harris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lera Gant; son, Harris E. Gant, Jr.; three daughters: Diane Orso, Kelley Estelle Entrekin (Richard) and Angel E. Baker (Daniel); seven grandchildren: Scott Gant (Melissa), Hayley Gant, Aaron Entrekin, Michael Gant, Hannah Baker, Emily Gant and Will Baker; two great-grandchildren: Cristen Gant, Cara Sophia Gant; several special cousins; and special caregiver, Dora Gant.

Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Tuesday, December 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 1 p.m., with interment at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
