Walmart evacuated after bomb threat phone call

Walmart on Odum Road in Gardendale was evacuated on Wednesday after the store received a bomb threat by telephone, according to Gardendale police.
Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker said the store received the threat at approximately 4:45 p.m.
“They followed their protocol and called us,” said Walker. “We followed our own protocol when we got there and searched the store.”
Walker said there were no devices found during the search, and the evacuation lasted less than an hour. He said he could not give further details on the investigation for security reasons. Walker said the caller is suspected to be male. Nobody was hurt.
Sonic in Gardendale robbed; no one injured
Sonic Drive-in on Main Street in Gardendale was robbed Tuesday at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to the Gardendale Police Department.

Police Chief Mike Walker said police are searching for a black male in his 20s. He is 5-feet, nine inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He is believed to be driving a black Nissan Maxima or Altima.
Walker said the suspect was armed with a pistol, but no shots were fired and nobody was harmed. The suspect was wearing jeans, a white shirt and a bandanna.
Walker said the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
