Area students receive
millions in scholarships
Seniors at Jefferson County high schools have received millions of dollars worth of scholarships for various colleges:
• Corner: 47 students received 101 scholarships worth $1,007,282
• Fultondale: 11 students received 28 scholarships worth $383,116
• Gardendale: 75 students received 202 scholarships worth $2,861,556
• Mortimer Jordan: 35 students received 108 scholarships worth $1,181,936.
Honor deceased veterans during Monday event
The Hawkins B. Carter American Legion Post 255 and VFW Post 10250, both of Fultondale, will host a Memorial Day service Monday, 10 a.m., at the Veterans Memorial Wall at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 31 and Old Stouts Road. Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Tom King will be the guest speaker.
The North Jefferson News closed for Memorial Day
The North Jefferson News will close Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. The office will re-open Tuesday at 8 a.m.
