Musical

Oct. 22, 23 The Gardendale Arts Council and the City of Gardendale will host their annual dinner theater with the comedy/musical “Nunsense” at the Gardendale Civic Center’s Exhibition Hall. Fall Festival

Oct. 25, 3-6 p.m. Pineywood Baptist Church will have its fall festival at the church. Everyone is invited and everything is free. There will be inflatables, games, prizes and food.



Fund Raiser

Oct. 26, 6-8 p.m. Chick-fil-A in Gardendale will host a fund-raiser for Kyndell Thomas, featuring Danny “Digger Dan” Dennis and gang, Azalea Ridge Revival and the Bargainomics Lady. Tell the cashier you are there to support Kyndall, and Chick-fil-A will donate 20-percent of the sale to her.



PACT Rally

Oct. 26, 6-7:30 p.m. There will be a Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (PACT) rally at the Gardendale Civic Center. Speakers will include George Wallace Jr, who co-founded PACT, and Patty Lambert, president and co-founder of SaveAlabamaPact. Speakers will give an update on the status of PACT and answer questions. Banquet

Oct. 29, 6:30 p.m. The North Jefferson Women’s Center will host its annual “Celebrate Life” fund-raising banquet at the Gardendale First Baptist Church fellowship hall. Special guests for the evening will be speaker Joy Pinto with entertainment by George Weeks and Friends. Tickets are $10 at the door. Fall Festival

Tasting Luncheon

Nov. 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The North End Council of Garden Clubs will host a Tasting Luncheon at the Gardendale Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $5. Arts and Crafts Show

Nov. 13, 14 The North Arts Council will have its Fall Arts and Craft Show at the Gardendale Civic Center on Nov. 13, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kerry and Teresa Sparks will provide Christmas music both days. Santa will be there to have children’s picture made with him for $10. Vendors will include jewelry, art, wreaths, children’s clothes, honey, hand-sewn items, woodwork, flower arrangements, string art and more. Some of the proceeds to benefit Happy Feet International. Christmas awards

Dec. 15 is the deadline to enter the Gardendale Beautification Board’s annual Christmas-decorating contest. Residents and businesses who want to enter only need to have their decorations up by Dec. 15. Only outside decorations will be judged.

Dinner Concert

Amnesty Day

Oct. 23, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fultondale Municipal Court will hold amnesty day to give people with outstanding warrants with the City of Fultondale a chance to take care of cases without being arrested or incurring any additional charges. By appearing on this date, people can pay outstanding fines and court costs, be placed on probation for payment, or receive a new court date for the charges that require court appearances, without being arrested. Book sale

Oct. 30, 12-4 p.m.; Oct 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The North Jefferson-Blount Regional Library Foundation is holding a giant used book sale at the former Alabama National Guard Army on Cane Creek Road to raise money for the new Regional Library at Warrior. North Jefferson-Blount Public Library Foundation is collecting used books for a book sale to benefit the future Regional Library at Warrior. Parade, Festival

Dec. 5, 10 a.m. The 15th annual Morris Christmas parade will line up at Mortimer Jordan High School. A festival will follow at the park across from city hall, with spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. Mother’s Day Out

Nov. 7-8 The St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Food Festival will be held at the church, 105 Pastor Street. The Sisterhood of St. Olga will prepare food from recipes handed down from those who immigrated to Brookside from Slovakia. Rabies Clinic

5K Run, 1 Mile Walk

Oct. 31, 9 a.m. The Lorie Johnson Foundation will host the Second Annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk in Mt. Laurel. The run begins at The Square of Mt. Laurel at 9 a.m., with the walk shortly thereafter. Children participating in the One Block Costume Trot are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, with prizes awarded for best costumes. Christmas Tour

Dec. 6, 1-4 p.m. West Jefferson County Historical Society will host its 39th annual Christmas Heritage Tour of Pioneer Homes. The 1930s houses will be adorned with period Christmas decorations and will feature Civil War re-enactors, live music, tour guides in costume, crafts and refreshments. Adult tickets for all three houses are $5 each. Children 12 and younger admitted free with a paying adult. Tickets sold at the door of each house on tour day.
