Can you believe Easter is just a week away? This year is certainly flying by as they seem to do as you get older.
• I would like to remind everyone the American Legion will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 11 at 10 a.m. sharp at Black Creek Park. Bring all the children and make a morning of it. They will have a great time, but don’t be late. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be free. The American Legion does a great job and works hard to put this hunt on, so don’t forget to thank them.
• The American Legion celebrated their 18th anniversary in Fultondale last week. Happy anniversary to them and we are so proud to have them in Fultondale.
• The Fultondale City Council will meet April 13 at 6 p.m. Fultondale Chamber of Commerce will have a breakfast meeting on April 28 at the Holiday Inn Express (next to Outback) at 7:30 a.m. For information, call Teresa at 337-1629.
• Wonders never cease — Fultondale’s Toni Walker, an only child, was adopted at the age of 7. It was a fact she knew about. In the early 90s, she started looking for her birth mother and found out that she had passed away two years before the search began. This past Friday, she discovered she had two brothers, ages 34 and 40. She now has family she never knew existed. She now has sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews that she is so excited to meet one day soon.
• We are excited to say that Chaney Hubbert is back at Camp Lejune after a seven-month tour overseas. Chaney is a proud Marine and the daughter of Councilman Darrell Hubbert and Tammy Hubbert. She will be getting out in July. It is hard to believe she has been in the Marines for four years. It seems like only yesterday that she was excited about going in. We wish her the very best in life.
• The first “old car show” will be held in the Target parking lot on April 25.
• A special happy belated birthday wish to Brad Allen of the Fultondale Gas Department and volunteer fire department. We hope he had a great birthday.
