“Santa Steve” from Forestdale poses at the Fultondale Christmas-tree lighting ceremony.

The City of Fultondale hosted its annual tree lighting ceremony on Monday night in the city park behind city hall. At least 100 residents, city employees and representatives from the Fultondale Chamber of Commerce were at the event. Michael Myrick led the choir through several songs at the ceremony. In comments to the crowd, Mayor Jim Lowery said that when he took office, the tree was only four feet tall. The tree, a Douglas Fir, is now 12 feet tall.
