The Locust Fork River clean up was held on Sept. 5-7 and was a great success for Boy Scout Troop 5 from North Shelby County and Troop 283 from the Morris area. There were 124 tires and 14 bags of trash collected from a 2.5 mile stretch of the Warrior River, which is just above the bridge on Warrior-Kimberly Road. Allec Lucas from Troop 5 organized the cleanup as his Eagle Scout project. Lucas said 21 people put in a total of over 91 hours to complete the cleanup. He would like to thank all those that helped make his Eagle Scout project such a great success. The Kimberly Fire Department participated by sending two representatives. Everyone worked together to pull the tires from the river and load them in the boats, after which they were were floated down the river to the bridge, with the tires to be later hauled to the B and B Tire Land Fill located in Blount County. I have some great pictures I will get in next week, so keep a watch.
