I trust that everyone will have a safe and happy Memorial Day Monday. Please be careful while on the roads this weekend

• Happy birthday to Curt Sanford on May 28 and to Debby Abney on May 29.

• The North Jefferson Womens Center will be holding a yard sale on June 6-7. They are in need of donations. All donations are tax deductible. You can drop off your donations at the old center location on Pecan Avenue in Gardendale or they will pick them up. Please call 608-0100 for more information. This is a very good cause to support. They have been such a blessing to me throughout my pregnancies.

• The Gooch family reunion will be held May 31 at Moncrief Kiddie Park beginning at noon. The family would like to extend an invitation to old and new friends, cousins, in-laws, out-laws or whatever. Bring any old photos or items of interest to share. There will be food, music and lots of things for the kiddies. For additional information, you may contact 674-3929 or 515-0320.

• North Gardendale Baptist Church is having Senior Day on June 3 at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center. There will be music by Four Picks and a Bow, with lunch to follow. For more information, call Macie Johnson at 631-4592.

• The Gardendale Hamburger Heaven will be helping to support a vacation Bible school in Belize, Central America. Visit them on May 22 and they will donate 10 percent of their sales to this effort.

• Basketball Power Camps will be held at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The boys camp will be from July 15-17 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and the girls camp will be July 22-24 8:30 to noon for rising first through sixth graders. The cost is $20.
