What better way to enjoy Fall than by going to one of Alabama’s many state parks?

To find out all of the latest information on our parks come on into the center this Friday. There will be a travelog on “State Parks in Alabama” presented by our local library.

This will be both interesting and informative, so I hope there will be a good number of seniors taking advantage of this free presentation.

We want to remember Curtis Hicks who has had a tough time health wise this past year. Our prayers are with you, Curtis.

Yesterday Craford Rook and his Bluegrass Group gave us a wonderful program in music. Thanks, guys. Next Tuesday Skip Drakes’ group steps up to the mike. Let’s have a great turnout.

Today at 10 a.m., Blue Cross and Blue Shield will be giving an interesting presentation on coverage for seniors. Hurry on in and be a part of the questions and answers.

Don’t miss the bus that will be leaving the center on Oct. 17 at 8:30 a.m. to go to the fairgrounds. Wear your purple, green, and gold and enjoy “Mardi Gras” —even if it is at the wrong time of year.

Decorate your umbrella with beads or materials in Mardi Gras colors or bring a white handkerchief and do some second line dancing to New Orleans style music.

There will be door prizes and lunch will be provided.

Featured senior

Our featured senior this week is Junior Dale “J.D.” Adams. J.D. was born in Cullman and migrated down to the Kimberly area where he attended school at Mortimer Jordan.

He completed 45 years of service with U.S. Pipe and then worked part time for another 12 years with Roebuck Funeral Home.

J.D. married Judy Macaron and they had one son, Keith Adams.

J.D. always enjoyed going to dances and just having fun. Even today, you’ll see J.D. getting his exercise out on the dance floor whenever there is music at the center. He enjoys coming to the center because he likes to be associated with other seniors.

A good memory is fine—but the ability to forget is the truest test of greatness.

Come on in and join us as we savor our senior years.

Until next week, God bless.
