Willodean Sloan Harris
Willodean Sloan Harris, age 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister died peacefully on July 5, 2007 at her home in Morris. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James A. “Pete” Harris and two children, Pam (Dennis) Shotts and Deb (Ed) Glenn, both of Morris; four grandchildren: Mike Shotts of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jeffery (Amanda) Glenn, Joel Glenn and Joseph Glenn, one great-grandchild, Alyssa Glenn all of Morris. Two sisters, Alta Miller of Baileyton and Shelba (C.R. “Kitty”) Farr of McCalla, as well as a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Rice of Bessemer, and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. Willodean, known by many as Dean was born on Feb. 25, 1924 in a small mining town of Labuka to Grady and Myrtle Sloan. She grew up in Mt. Olive and Cullman and attended Crane Hill Elementary School and Hanceville High School. She leaves many wonderful and caring friends from her class of 1943. She was an active member of Acipco Baptist Church until its closing in 1975 when she became an active member at Hilldale Baptist Church. After moving to the Glennwood area of Morris she joined Glennwood Baptist Church and became an active member in choir and Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brothers Gladious C. Sloan and William Grady “Bill” Sloan. Services were held at Morgan’s Funeral Home. Bro. David Bays officiated with burial at Glennwood Baptist Church in Morris.

Ethel Cargile Lynch
Ethel Cargile Lynch, age 91, of Hayden, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2007. Funeral services will be held at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home on July 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. with burial in Morris Cemetery. Rev. Edward Williams officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 7, 2007 5 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her Husband Jack Lynch,one son Calvin Lynch. Survivors: two daughters Malinda (Kennith) Young an Sherry (Collins) Wilkie and one son Jarrett (Faye) Lynch. Eight Grandchildren,Twelve GreatGrandchildren an Two Greatgreat Granchildren.

Geneva Josephin Scarborough
Geneva Josephin Scarborough, age 82, of Mt. Olive, passed away on July 6, 2007. She was a member of First Baptist Church Of Warrior. Funeral Services will be held at Graveside Mt. Olive Cemetery on July 07, 2007 at 2 p.m. with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Bro. Jerrel Brown officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents John an Adrea Rock, husband Ganus C. Sarborough, sisters, Ruby McCormick, Faye McCandleos, Marie Burns, Jane Little an Josephine Bibb and brother John Dewey Rock. Survivors: children, Barbara Pittman (Mickey) of Tarrant, Edward Salyers (Jennifer) Gardendale, Ann Davis of Gardendale, Sue Brown (Jerrel) Mt. Olive and Jerry Belcher (Carla) of Gardendale; sisters Diane McAlpine (JD) an Shirley Lauderdale of Warrior, Carol Garrard (Vic) of Center Point. Brother Terry (Rock) Kaye of Warrior, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and long time friend Rosemary Walher.

Loyd e. Melvin
Loyd E. Melvin, age 85 of Trafford, died on Saturday, July 7, 2007. Mr. Melvin served his country in the Army during WWII. Graveside services were held at Bethel Cemetery. Bro. Sid Cottingham officiated. Mr. Melvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nona Melvin of Trafford, son, Michael (Teresa) Melvin; daughters, Elizabeth (Julius) Childers, Rosemary (Wayne) Lollar, Anita Johns (Morgan) Fewox; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
