Charlotte A. Pollard

Funeral services for Charlotte A. Pollard, 80, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, Bro. Howard Wolfe and LaRue Caraway officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pollard died Friday, June 9 at her residence. She was born on Dec. 20, 1925, to Albert and Emily Sucky Smelvesky. She was retired from Americold.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Clyde A. Pollard.

Survivors include two sons, Danny S. (Ann) Pollard and Bobby (Becky) Pollard; three daughters, Darling Ann (Fred) Venz, Karen Pollard (Michael) Johnston and Ellen (Richard) Burns; eight grandchildren, Freddy Venz, Eddy Venz, Vikki Leggett, Haley Quinn, Gidgett Overton, Robert Pollard, Tonia Pollard and Blakeley Burns; eight great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, VaRue Mabry, Joyce Posey, Marti Penn and Delane Snow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 1724 2nd Ave. NW, Cullman, AL 35055.

Pallbearers will be Robert Pollard, Keith Pollard, Norman Pollard, Eric Pollard, Michael Pollard and Greg Pollard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Hamilton and Ceaf Taylor.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Alvin Dewitt ‘Pill’ Hathcock

Funeral services for Alvin Dewitt “Pill” Hathcock, 76, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Kenneth Hester officiating, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hathcock died Friday, June 9 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 15, 1929, to Talmadge and I.V. Henke Hathcock. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a wife, I.V. Campbell Hathcock; a son, Ricky Hathcock of Cullman; two daughters, Connie (Tim) Neighbors and Peggy (Mark) Swann, both of Cullman; a sister, Jean Fleming; three grandchildren, Chastity Thatch, Nathan Quattlebaum and Kassey Swann; and three great-grandchildren, Jaythan Thatch, Caleb Thatch and Paisley I.V. Thatch.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday.





Lonnie ‘Buddy’ T. Gregory

Funeral services for Lonnie T. “Buddy” Gregory, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Center Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Billy Wooten and Richard Welch officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Gregory will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gregory died Friday, June 9 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born on July 10, 1924, to Charlie and Nannie Dyer Gregory. He was a school bus driver. He was retired from the Cullman County Board of Education. He was a member of Senior Circle and Center Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucy Mae Collier Gregory; a brother, Johnny Gregory; and a sister, Georgia Jean Gregory.

Survivors include three sons, Thurman (Teresa) Gregory, Jimmy (Glenda) Gregory and Billy (Gidget) Gregory; four daughters, Betty (Max) Brannan, Carolyn (James) Metz, Beatrice (Fred) Kugler and Ruby (David) Reasonover; a brother, Euel “Skip” Gregory; two sisters, Magdalean Whisenant and Irene “IV” Gregory Williams; 14 grandchildren, Tina Brannan Horton, Joan Brannan, Jason Metz, Bobby Metz, Jamey Metz, Bonnie Phillips Compton, Nathan Gregory, Jessica Gregory, Patrick Reasonover, Michael Reasonover, Daniel Gregory, Sam Gregory, Shawna Gregory and Sadie Gregory; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.



Troy ‘Red’ Brindley

Memorial services for Troy “Red” Brindley, 75, of Addison will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Nicholas Funeral Home in Addison.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brindley died Thursday, June 8.





Robert Ward Mullins

Robert Ward Mullins, 88, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Thursday, June 8, 2006. The Pine Bluff native was born on April 18, 1918, the son of Joseph Franklin and Alice Barry Mullins. He earned a BSC degree from State University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1940 to 1946, progressing to the rank of major.

His distinguished career in government service began in 1951 with the U.S. Army Audit Agency. In 1956, he was promoted to GS-13 at the Southern Regional USAAA Office in Atlanta, Ga. In 1960 he transferred to the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville, was promoted to GS-14 in 1964, serving as special assistant to the commanding general. He transferred to the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant in Texas in 1969, serving as civilian operating officer there. He received the Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1974. After his retirement from government service he operated a tax consulting service in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Survivors include his wife, Dell Lee Quattlebaum Mullins; a son, John J. Mullins of Cullman; a daughter, Pamela Ann Mullins of Coral Gables of Florida; two stepdaughters, Fadelle Quattlebaum Powell of Little Rock, Ark., and Janie Deem “Demps” Quattlebaum Santo of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a brother, James W. Mullins of Alma, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Mullins Jr.; two wives, Mary Ann John Mullins and Helen Pledger Mullins; and two brothers, Joe B. Mullins and William A. “Bitsy” Mullins.

Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Graceland Cemetery, by Ralph Robinson and Son. The memorial service and family visitation will follow at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church.
