Brentice Clark Dover

Funeral services for Brentice Clark Dover, 64, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Dr. David Chambers officiating, with burial in Fairview First Baptist Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dover died Sunday, April 2 at his residence. He was born on June 21, 1941, in Cullman County to Robert and Celia Freeman Dover.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jerry Dover.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Jo Wooten Dover; his stepmother, Jewel Dover; three sons, Horace Lee (Vickie) Dover, Craig Lawayne Dover and Patrick Clark (Jane) Dover; a daughter, Donna Annette (Philip) Dover; two brothers, Holbert Dover and Olen Dover; five sisters, Louise Hails, Myra Hyatt, Reba Bridgemon, Patsy Watwood and Bonnie Johnson; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Calvin George Stieffel

Funeral services for Calvin George Stieffel, 80, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fr. Kevin McGrath officiating, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stieffel died Sunday, April 2 at his residence. He was a native of Louisiana and resided in Cullman for the past 14 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was very active in the St. Vincent DePaul’s Society. He was retired from Jefferson Parrish Civil Service and also retired from Frito Lay, Inc. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Cascade in the Pacific during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene G. and Leonie George Stieffel; a daughter, Janice C. Stieffel; a brother, Eugene Stieffel, all of New Orleans, La.; and a brother-in-law, Robert Babin.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Gloria Stieffel; two daughters, Gwendolyn S. Evans of Cullman and Ann S. (Nick, son-in-law who was like a son) Vincent of Trussville; a son, Louis G. (Leslie) Stieffel of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters, Beverly S. Babin and Patricia Stieffel, both of Madisonville, La.; two brothers, Raymond (Patricia) Stieffel of Metairie, La., and William (JoAnne) Stieffel of Slidell, La.; nine grandchildren, Rebecca M. Evans, of Cullman, Edward W. Evans of Hartselle, Rachael A. Evans of Decatur, Toby G. (Satoko) Evans of Destin, Fla., Natalie R. Stieffel of Alexandria, La., Jessica L. Vincent, Michael A. Vincent, Ryan A. Vincent and Eric D. Vincent, all of Trussville; and two great-grandchildren, Stefanie Evans and Jason Evans of Hartselle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul’s.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.



Nellie Jean Barnett

Funeral services for Nellie Jean Barnett, 63, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, Richard Bailey and Bill Pfeil officiating, with burial in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery East.

Mrs. Barnett died Friday, March 31 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 4, 1942, to Cordis C. and Hazell Harvell Elliott. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Terry Wayne Barnett; and a brother, Jerry Carlton Elliott.

Survivors include her husband, Julian Sidney Barnett; a son, Cordis James Barnett; two daughters, Lissa R. Brown and Donna G. Nobles; a sister, Mary Ruth Elliott; and four grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.



J. Mack Starkey

Funeral services for J. Mack Starkey, 69, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, Ralph Andrews officiating, with burial in Etha Baptist Church.

Mr. Starkey died Monday, April 3 at his residence. He was born on June 25, 1936, to Jack and Callie Engle Starkey. He was a truck driver, retired after 51 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jay Starkey; and two brothers, Jim Starkey and Tom Starkey. He resided in Cullman County for 26 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a born-again Christian and a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR races and listening to Bluegrass music and the Grand Ole Opry Live.

Survivors include his wife, Mary June McAnalley Starkey; three daughters and their spouses, Kimberlie and Mac McNally of Anniston, Kristin and Pat Klingler of Abeline, Texas, and Michelle Starkey Prickett of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Roy Starkey of Marryville, Tenn.; two sisters, Josephine Porterfield of Knoxville, Tenn., and Patsy Starkey of Marryville, Tenn.; four stepchildren and their spouses, Margie and Ron Kirkland and Phyllis and Warren Hamrick, all of Birmingham, Ricky and Susan Cobbs and Jeremy and Michelle Cobbs, all of Cullman; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Johns, Mitch Hamrick, Daniel Hooper, Tim Collins, David Duwell and Micheal Green.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jayson Winkler.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.



Chrystal Inez Campbell

Funeral services for Chrystal Inez Campbell, 79, of Logan will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Emeus Baptist Church, Greg Aldridge and Tim Kinney officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Campbell will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Campbell died Saturday, April 1 at Folsom Health Care Center. She was born on July 6, 1926, in Cullman County to Henry and Maudie Johns Starnes. She was a member of Emeus Baptist Church and she loved working at Americold until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harry Leon Campbell; a great-grandson, Preston Budweg; and a sister, Olene Starnes Parker.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, J.T. Campbell of Logan; a daughter, Janet Light of Logan; a son, Harold (Betty) Campbell; four grandchildren, Heath (Stacey) Knighten, Kevin Light, Amanda Campbell and Geneen (Todd) Reese; four great-grandchildren, Kyler Knighten, Zachery Sparks, Todd Hanners and Bobby Hanners; one great-great-grandson, Riley Hanners; a sister, Hazel Campbell of Cullman; and two brothers, Albert Starnes of Cullman and Fred (Ruth) Starnes of Hokes Bluff.

Visitation was Monday.



Dorothy Jean Yewell

Dorothy Jean Yewell, 77, of Cullman died on Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Medical Center East. No funeral services are planned.

Jerry Wayne McBrayer

Funeral services for Jerry Wayne McBrayer, 55, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Frank Wood officiating, with burial in Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. McBrayer died Sunday, April 2 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 21, 1951. He worked in maintenance for Intergraph. He enjoyed life and loved spending time with family, hunting, fishing and his beagles.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. McBrayer of Cullman; his father, Richard McBrayer Jr. of Cullman; his mother, Edna Walker of Cullman; two sons, Justin McBrayer and Heath McBrayer of Cullman; a daughter, Lanza Brunner of Hanceville; two brothers, Mark McBrayer and Dale McBrayer of Cullman; two sisters, Siby Tyson of Garden City and Patti Brown of Cullman; two grandchildren, Megan Brunner and Daylon Brunner; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Matt Filyaw, Ryan Pinyan, Jeremy Buckelew, Phillip Frese, Kevin Walmsley and Justin Philyaw.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Ronald Dean Parker

Funeral services for Ronald Dean Parker, 73, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with interment in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Mr. Parker died Sunday, April 2 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born on Dec. 16, 1932, in Tennessee to Bascom and Ola Mae King Parker. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Highway 157 Church of Christ and enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley McLemore Parker; two sisters; and two stepsons, Wesley Mitchell and Dan Cole Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Maurine Parker of Cullman; a son, Wade (Debra) Parker of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Kathy (Bob) Eubanks of Hartselle, Regina (Jackie) Garrison and Lisa (Larry) Godsey, both of Cullman; two sisters, Nell (Tom) Cauvey of Florida and Jean Reed of Tuscaloosa; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Opal J. Pruett

Funeral services for Opal J. Pruett, 96, of Huntsville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating, with interment in Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Pruett died Saturday, April 1 at Parkview Healthcare Center. She was born on Sept. 7, 1909, in Cullman County to A.W. and Daisy McLarty Johnston. She was a school teacher in the Cullman County School System and the Auburn City School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cullman and was active in many civic activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman T. Pruett; four brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her son, John K. (Barbara) Pruett of Huntsville; a brother, A.W. (Blonnie) Johnston Jr. of Columbiana; three grandchildren, Thomas (Sonia) Pruett, Afton Elizabeth (James) Travens and Patrick (Audrey) Pruett; and six great-grandchildren, Clay Pruett, Micah Pruett, Laney Pruett, Caleb Pruett, Casandra Travens and James Travens II.

Visitation was Monday.



Sarah Irene Mutzenberger

Funeral services for Sarah Irene Mutzenberger, 79, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Addison Church of God, the Rev. Samuel Parker officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Mutzenberger will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Mutzenberger died Friday, March 31 in Cullman. She was born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Lawndale, Calif., to Charles and Sarah Tibbet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Mutzenberger; her parents; three brothers, Glen, Charles and Elmer Tibbet; and a sister, Alice Finley.

Survivors include two sons, Allen “J.P.” (Jeannie) Thielmann and Norbert “Skip” Thielmann; a daughter, Donna (Harley) Unterseher; a brother, Walter Tibbet; a sister, Nettie Williams; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.
