Cullman is gaining another dining experience with the arrival of Newk’s Eatery this fall.
Offering a wide range of soups, pizzas, sandwiches, salads and desserts, Newk’s will open in former Dairy Queen building on 2nd Avenue.
Renovations on the building began this week and plans are to be open Fall 2019.
Larry Smallwood and Britt Smallwood, owners of the Cullman Zaxbys, are opening the franchise for Cullman.
Becky Flack and Jessi Eidson, commercial real estate specialists at Culpepper Real Estate represented the Mike and Samantha Way in selling the Dairy Queen building.
“This is going to be exciting. A lot of people enjoyed the mid-town dining and drive-through option in midtown, and that’s coming back with Newk’s,” Flack said.
Among other locations for Newk’s are Auburn and Birmingham.
“I’m told their tomato-basil soup is to die for,” Flack said. “The menu has a wide variety for everyone to try.”
