Brookside car crash kills Forestdale woman

A Forestdale woman was pronounced dead on the scene of a single car accident in Brookside this morning.

At about 3 a.m., deputies were called to Brookside-Coalburg Road to investigate an accident. The caller reported hearing a loud crash that he believed to be a traffic accident.

Deputies arrived on the scene at Brookside-Coalburg Road and Mailsy Drive to find a red 1996 Dodge Avenger that had left the road and struck a utility pole and mailboxes.

The lone occupant, Lisa Cone, 52, of Forestdale, was found to be deceased in the car. There was no one else in the car with her and there were no other injuries.

The investigation indicates that the driver lost control of the car, crossed the opposing lane and struck mail boxes and a utility pole. It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control.
