Crossing guard needed
The City of Gardendale is in search of a new crossing guard. Those interested in applying should see crossing guard Hazel Butts at Gardendale High School.

Council tables road work bids
The Gardendale City Council tabled a resolution to open construction bids for a road that will connect Odum and Mt. Olive Roads until the April 7 council meeting. Mayor Kenny Clemons said erosion control had to be done on the road before it can be paved.
In other business, the council:
• approved advertisement for bids on a new fire engine/pumper to be received by April 15. Fire Chief Clint Doss told council members a new truck will cost about $435,000.
• passed an ordinance establishing penalties for false fire and police alarms. The new ordinance replaces an existing ordinance.
• authorized an agreement to provide employee assistance to city employees
• created a revenue examiner position in the administrative department
