Mollie Susan Bailey and Jody Austin Schafer were united in marriage on October 9, 2010, in a double ring ceremony at Stone Bridge Farm, in Cullman Alabama.

The bride is the daughter of Mike and Susan Bailey of Cullman. She is the granddaughter of Mr. William Earney Bailey and the late Mrs. Nell Bailey of Cullman and Mrs. Marie Poole and the late Mr. John T. Poole of Cullman.

The groom is the son of Wally and DeAnn Schafer of Cullman. He is the grandson of Mrs. Betty Schafer and the late Mr. Walter Schafer of Cullman and Mrs. Esther Sparks and the late Mr. Bill Sparks of Cullman.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory silk taffeta and re-embroidered Alencon lace from the Jas-Mine Collection. Styled in the strapless fashion, the molded bodice of re-embroidered lace was delicately embellished with seed pearls and clear sequins. The bride chose to wear over the gown a bolero jacket of matching lace. The natural waist was emphasized with a silk taffeta insert cummerbund. The softly gathered skirt fell from the waistline and gently swept to a chapel train. Covered buttons graced the back of the gown to the length of the train. A walking-length veil of imported French tulle’ edged with beaded lace completed the bridal ensemble.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory hydrangeas, light orange Gerbera daisies, cream roses, and lime green bachelor buttons and was accented with the oak leaves from the Stone Bridge Farm. The stems were wrapped with ivory and chocolate satin ribbon.

Matron of honor was Heather Riley of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Bridesmaids were Hillary Schafer, sister-in- law of the groom and Megan Bailey, sister of the bride, all of Cullman. They wore dresses of chocolate brown chiffon. They carried bouquets of light orange Gerbera daises, cream roses with oak leaf accents.

Allie Bailey, niece of the bride, and Ava Schafer, niece of the groom, were flower girls. They wore dresses of ivory taffeta with chocolate brown sashes. They each wore wreaths of roses and babies breathe in their hair. Their baskets were filled with yellow and orange rose petals.

The best man was Wally Schafer, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Bryan Schafer, brother of the groom, and Kyle Bates, best friend of the groom.

The reception was held at Stone Bridge Lodge. Family and friends enjoyed an evening of casual dining from the buffet of the couple’s favorite foods while their favorite music played.

After the reception, the couple surprised their guests by a fireworks show around the water at Stone Bridge. They departed from their event in the groom’s custom off-road Jeep.

After a week-long Caribbean cruise, the couple resides in Cullman.

Prenuptial Parties

A bridal tea honoring the couple was held at the East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church, hosted by ladies of the CPWM.

A brunch honoring the bride was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brent McClellan of Cullman hosted by ladies of the Fourth Street Church of Christ.

A bridal tea was held at Stone Bridge Manor honoring the bride. It was hosted by Janie Beck, Lu Ann Poole, Joy Watson, Tracey Greene, Emily Thornton, Linda Romine and Claudean Vinson.

On the day of the wedding, food was gracially provided by Linda Romine and Claudean Vinson for the wedding parties as they dressed for the event.
