Both coaches have been atop Cullman County hoop programs for numerous years.

And, more recently, both coaches found out some pretty fantastic news.

Meyer (Hanceville) and Boatright (Fairview) — along with Wallace State softball coach Jayne Clem (at large) — received letters regarding their upcoming induction into one of the area’s most prestigious organizations.

The Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame.

The CCSHOF’s 17th class — which also includes Del Brock, Ken Gunter and Todd Hermetz, Cullman; Dillard Quick Jr., Good Hope; Cindy Mallard, Hanceville; Bill Oliver, Holly Pond; Charlie Rodgers, Cold Springs; Mike Grantham, Vinemont; and Roy Johnson, West Point — will officially be installed April 22 at a banquet inside the Cullman Civic Center.

Tickets can be purchased for $20 beginning March 1 at Peoples Bank on Cherokee Avenue.

The CCSHOF board slashed the pool of candidates to 30 semifinalists last December before settling on 11 finalists back in January.

The Times will again publish profiles of all the inductees in the weeks leading up to the banquet.
