Vinemont bounced back from a 7-4 loss to Randolph County in Thursday’s opener with a 15-12 win in the nightcap of the Class 3A playoff series.
Despite registering 11 walks in Game 1, the No. 7 Eagles (23-9) mustered just five hits and left 14 runners on base.
The Red and White turned things around in the nightcap, however, recording eight runs in the fourth inning to erase a three-run deficit.
Randolph County threatened late, scoring three runs in the seventh and bringing the game-winning run to the plate, but Vinemont recorded the final out to preserve the win.
Friday’s Game 3 tiebreaker is set for 4:30 p.m.
