Seasons end for Cold Springs, Fairview and Good Hope

Cullman wasted no time making its postseason presence known.

The Bearcats dominated Hazel Green on Friday night, earning 10-0 and 12-0 wins to sweep the first-round series in the Class 6A playoffs.

Coach Brent Patterson’s team improved to 19-14 overall and will face Pell City next week for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Cullman scored seven first-inning runs in the opener — the Bearcats tallied four hits and five walks to dish out the damage — which was more than enough support for Cooper Loftin, who scattered two hits and two strikeouts in five innings of work.

Brooks Heatherly hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to end the game early.

The Bearcats continued their offensive onslaught in the nightcap.

Heatherly’s second homer of the day — a three-run bomb — punctuated a five-run second inning for the home team. Cullman added seven additional runs in the third to all but assure the outcome.

Fysher Dahlke scattered three hits and five strikeouts to match Loftin’s shutout.
