COUNTY TOURNAMENT (JVB): West Point outlasts Cold Springs for county crown

HANCEVILLE — After three straight years of close calls and heartache, West Point’s junior varsity boys finally reached the top.
But it didn’t come easy.
Trailing for much of the game, the top-seeded Warriors eventually claimed a lead in the fourth quarter thanks to a trio of treys and held off the No. 2 Eagles behind a pesky defensive effort down the stretch.
The win snapped a three-year losing streak in the championship game for West Point.
Coach Speak: “I’d be lying if I said we didn’t use that (losing streak) as motivation for today. But this group finished 18-1 this season and there was a never a moment where they felt under pressure. They always handled it … and that comes from great leadership. It just feels great to finally win one of these (laughs).” — West Point’s Jesse Lee
