Well-wishing friends and members of the local law enforcement community gathered Saturday morning to pray for Cullman County Sheriff’s deputy Adam Clark and his K-9 companion officer Figo, both of whom were injured in a single-car crash last week on Alabama Highway 69 near Bremen.

Clark sustained extensive injuries and remains in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital in the wake of the Feb. 11 crash, which investigating officers have attributed to poor weather conditions.

Clark’s Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle was discovered by responders in a ravine within an hour of the accident, which occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Figo is being treated at a veterinary facility at Auburn University.

Michael Glover, chaplain for the sheriff’s office and pastor at Pure Faith Ministries Church, organized the event and led those who attended in prayer — including a special prayer for law enforcement and other local response personnel. Held at Depot Park in Cullman, the service drew a small crowd, as well as television media cameras, around the fountain at the park’s center.

“They all need protection, and they all need our prayers,” Glover said Saturday. “Me and my wife were talking a couple of days ago, and she said, ‘We need to hold a prayer for him; for both of them.

“So we texted sheriff [Matt] Gentry, and he said, ‘Make it happen.’ And of course the chief [Cullman Police chief Kenny Culpepper] approved of it too, and we’re heartened now to see so many law enforcement and emergency responders here today.”
