- My Way Transportation’s drivers rely on a fleet of 18-wheelers to deliver goods across the nation.
Cullman is known as a central location between two major travel hubs as well as a dozen others. Many trucking companies utilize the Cullman area for their raveling needs.
The logistics have pushed the growth of trucking in the area dramatically.
My Way Transportation, a family-owned and operated company since 1996, has been expanding its services as the economy continues to grow.
“We offer warehouse facilities for storage and pickups, which can be a tremendous convenience in our industry. We’re already planning to expand our offices and repair space to meet customer demands,” said John Henry, vice president of safety at My Way. “We’re already looking for seven more mechanics, dispatchers and officer personnel. We love to be able to offer jobs in our community.”
My Way also has been reaching out into the community with many charitable efforts, including support for the Cullman Caring for Kids food bank.
“This is our home and we want our drivers and their families to know they are part of our family,” Henry said. “This is a great community to come home to and we want to do what we can to help where it is needed.”
James R. Smith has been in Cullman since 1955. The family-owned and operated company saw the small town feel as a positive place to start and run a business, Operations Manager Mike Arnold said.
“The big draw for us was definitely the size of the town of Cullman,” Arnold said. “We are growing as a company and with our community involvement. Something the owners have always strived to be is a part of a close community and be involved in it. We’re a family owned company and there are a lot of family members who work for and with the company. Something that was important was the ability to raise kids and live centrally located to all he major hubs.”
R.E. Garrison Vice President of Safety and Driver Relations Shawn Nelson said he is also excited about growing in the Cullman community.
“As we continue to grow, we look forward to expanding opportunities for the people of Cullman and the surrounding areas,” Nelson said. “It takes a lot of people to support the over-the-road drivers we have covering 48 states. After 60 years in business, R.E. Garrison Trucking is keeping America, and Cullman County, moving forward. We like to say, it’s ‘the best trucking decision you will ever make.’”
Priority Transportation President Justin Ray said their family-owned business has been in Cullman since 1995.
“Cullman is a very competitive area for trucking companies because there are multiple located here and each one is competing to get the best qualified drivers in this area,” Ray said. “I feel Cullman is a great place to work and raise a family and priority strives to have the best work environment for its’ employees. Cullman is growing, but I believe it’s maintaining its hometown feel. Transportation is what drives this country and I strongly believe without the drivers; this country would not be where it is today. Our overall goal is to be the safest company on the road and to provide the best customer service possible.”
