- Jon and Rebekah Caldwell Mason are seen here at the State of the State address in February 2017.
Jon Mason, the husband of ex-governor Robert Bentley’s alleged mistress Rebekah Caldwell Mason, was fired from his state job, AL.com reports.
The Governor’s Office has reportedly confirmed Jon Mason’s termination as director of SERVE Alabama — a job Bentley appointed him to in 2011 through the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Volunteer Services. Mason, a former weatherman, earned $91,000 a year.
AL.com reported the dismissal occurred this morning, according to a spokesperson with the governor’s office.
Bentley resigned Monday after he was charged with ethics violations in connection with his rumored affair with Rebekah Caldwell Mason and amid an impeachment hearing. Kay Ivey, the elected lieutenant governor, was sworn in Monday evening as Alabama’s new governor.
